In this show, I started with breaking news over a verdict that was announced shortly before the newscast started. It was difficult to pick a lead since it was also a First Alert weather day and storms were coming into the area within a few hours. Ultimately, we decided to break with the verdict, tease to more information in nightside shows and then go to weather.

Breaking News

Special Moments

The lead in this show was clear with rain incoming over the next few days. I wanted to tease the Artemis II landing shortly after the newscast so the director and I pulled NASA's camera as it was nearing Earth, then put it behind the anchors and cut back to a VOSOT from the astronauts. Later in the show, I found drone footage of the construction to add more visuals to the MODOT story.

Multiple Leads

There were two leads in this show that were strong. We issued a First Alert weather day and severe storms were coming over the next two days. Shots were fired at the White House Correspondents' dinner the night before and NBC had more information since the previous newscasts. I decided to run headlines, starting with weather and moving to the shots fired incident, then led with weather and ran the NBC after, while also adding a cold SOT of exclusive sound from the dinner.
